These are the venues worth knowing downtown. The first group is on our crawl routes; the second group is not, and is still worth a visit.

- Mandala — one of the big dance clubs on the main strip.
- La Vaquita — next door, with a similar late-night crowd.
- Cabo Wabo Cantina — the rock bar and live-music venue founded by Sammy Hagar.
- Giggling Marlin — a long-running bar known for its upside-down shots.

How to choose
- For dancing until late: the big clubs on the main strip.
- For live music: the cantinas and shot bars.
- For a view and a slower start: a rooftop.
- If you cannot decide: do not. Visit several in one night and pick a favorite afterwards.
Seeing several clubs in one night
